ALMUNIA, ROJAS MARCOS AND KLIKSBERG EXAMINE EXIT STRATEGIES FOR THE CRISIS AT THE IE GLOBAL ALUMNI FORUM

Madrid, Monday June 21, 2010. Over 1,000 managers and entrepreneurs from 43 countries met in Madrid today at the IE Global Alumni Forum to explore ways to exit the economic crisis with experts that included Joaquín Almunia, Luis Rojas Marcos and Bernardo Kliksberg. This year the annual meeting of IE  alumni is focused on addressing the economic crisis, the fight against poverty and managing critical situations from a personal perspective.

Participants in the forum included Joaquín Almunia, Vice President of the European Commission and  European Commissioner for Competition, who analyzed the main lines of strategic action adopted by the European Union to combat the crisis; Bernardo Kliksberg, international expert in CSR and social management, advisor to presidents and institutions like ONU, BID, UNESCO and UNICEF, who examined the ethical and spiritualdimension of the individual in the fight against poverty; and Luis Rojas Marcos, professor of Psychiatry at New York University and Executive President of New York’s public health and hospital system for over a decade, who centered his address on how to overcome adversity, stressful situations and catastrophes. As head of public hospitals in New York, and member of the city’s Emergency Control Committee, Rojas Marcos played a key role in addressing the problems that arose in the aftermath of the devastating terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

ALMUNIA, ROJAS MARCOS Y KLIKSBERG ANALIZAN LAS SALIDAS A  LA CRISIS EN EL IE GLOBAL ALUMNI FORUM

Madrid, Lunes 21 de Junio de 2010. Más de 1200 directivos procedentes de 50 países han analizado en Madrid cómo superar la crisis económica con expertos como Joaquín Almunia, Luis Rojas Marcos o Bernardo Kliksberg, en el Global Alumni Forum de IE. La reunión anual de antiguos alumnos de IE ha centrado este año el debate en cómo afrontar la crisis económica, luchar contra la pobreza y gestionar situaciones críticas en el plano personal.

La jornada ha contado con la participación de Joaquín Almunia, Vicepresidente de la Comisión Europea y Comisario de Competencia, quien ha analizado las principales líneas estratégicas de la UE para salir de la crisis; Bernardo Kliksberg, experto internacional en RSC y Social Management, asesor de Presidentes e instituciones como la ONU, BID, UNESCO o UNICEF, que ha reflexionado sobre la dimensión ética de la persona para erradicar la pobreza; y Luis Rojas Marcos, profesor de Psiquiatría de la Universidad de Nueva York, miembro de la Academia de Medicina de Nueva York y durante más de una década Presidente Ejecutivo del Sistema de Sanidad y Hospitales Públicos de Nueva York, que ha centrado su intervención en cómo superar la adversidad, situaciones de stress y catástrofe. Como responsable de los hospitales públicos de Nueva York y miembro del Consejo de Control de Emergencias de la ciudad, Rojas Marcos vivió muy de cerca los devastadores ataques terroristas del 11 de septiembre de 2001.
