Entre el viernes 26 y el sábado 29 de septiembre se celebró la segunda Conferencia EurOut en Londres, Reino Unido. El evento fue iniciado originalmente por LBS, en respuesta a la American LGBT Reaching Out MBA Conference [www.reachingoutmba.org] organizada por las principales escuelas de negocios en EE.UU. desde 1999.

En el evento, que duró todo el día, participaron empresas como BCG, Barclays, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, pero también ex alumnos de MBA de las mejores escuelas de negocios y estudiantes de varios países.

Un resumen del evento en pocas palabras:

• Se organizo una cena el 28 de septiembre donde se reunieron cerca de 50 personas de diferentes países y universidades. Tuvo lugar en un delicioso y exótico restaurante marroquí en el centro de Londres. Los invitados pudieron interactuar y hacer networking.

• El evento principal tuvo lugar el 29 de septiembre en el campus de la prestigiosa London Business School. Los estudiantes de IE Business School pudieron percibir una atmosfera similar al IE dentro del blanco edificio.

• Incluyó ponentes de alto calibre:

– Anthony Watson: MD & CIO, Barclays. También nominado el “Campeón Europeo de la Diversidad del Año 2012”. Anthony esta listado como uno de los 50 hombres gays más influyentes del planeta
– Sabine Gaouyer: VP Finanzas, Goldmann Sachs.
– Shane Clifford: Principal BCG
– Alex Yaffe: socio, Morgan Stanley

Conclusión:

El segundo EurOut fue un evento muy bueno donde se mezclaban consejos de aprendizaje tanto profesionales como personales. El networking fue también un componente clave del evento. Mientras contemplamos lo que nuestros compañeros estadounidenses están haciendo con “American LGBT Reaching Out MBA Conference”, la Conferencia EurOut probablemente se convertirá en un hito clave en la creación de conciencia LGBT entre los nuevos líderes, tanto actuales como futuros.

 

Between Friday 26th and Saturday 29th September, was held the 2nd EurOut Conference, in London, UK. The event was originally initiated by the London Business School, in response to the American LGBT Reaching Out MBA Conference [www.reachingoutmba.org] organised by major MBA schools in the USA since 1999.

This was a full day event which involved companies such as BCG, Barclays, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, but also MBA alumni from top tier business schools, and current students from several countries.

The event in a nutshell:

• Diner on 28th September gathered about 50 people from different countries, and universities. It took place in a delicious, exotic, Moroccan restaurant in the centre of London. Guest could interact and network.
• Main event took place on 29th September inside the prestigious London Business School.

Students from IE Business School could perceive a flavour of IE while walking inside the LBS white colour’s building, with its beautiful park.

• High calibre guest speakers include:

o Anthony Watson: MD & CIO, Barclays. Also nominated the “European Diversity Champion of the Year 2012”. Anthony is listed in the top 50 most influential gay men on the planet
o Sabine Gaouyer: VP Finance, Goldmann Sachs.
o Shane Clifford: Principal BCG
o Alex Yaffe: associate, Morgan Stanley

• Memorable quotes:

o Anthony Watson: “We want people to embrace their individuality“, “If you want people to follow you, they need to trust, if you want them to trust, they need to know you”, “The business world does need to change” (I.e. adapting to diversity & Inclusion)

The 2nd EurOut was a really good event which mingled both professional and personal learning tips. Networking was also a key component of the event. While contemplating what our American peers are doing with the American LGBT Reaching Out MBA Conference, the EurOut Conference will probably become a key milestone in building LGBT awareness among current and future business leaders.
