In March 2009, IE Careers Management Centre traveled to India to meet with companies and headhunters, to further develop the job market in Asia and to explore opportunities for the growing number of IE graduates interested in working in the area. Sugata Jain, Associate Director of IE´s Career Management Centre, visited about 40 companies in 3 cities, including, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune.

In this trip, the main focus was to meet with companies which are or would be working between Europe and India (especially Spain) mainly in the renewable energy sector, consulting, infrastructure and pharmaceutical. The aim was to identify companies which work on an international platform, and would value a European MBA as compared to a local MBA profile.

The process started by identifying the need to create connections to seize recruitment opportunities in the Asian market. Considering that Asian economies, especially China, India and Singapore are witnessing a significant growth, several European/global companies want to enter or have already entered these markets.

Sugata met with about 40 companies in total out of which Spanish are: MONDRAGÓN CORPORACIÓN COOPERATIVA, Copca: Government of Catalonia, Indolink Consulting, Capital Energy, CIEM, ITSMA.

Other companies in Delhi: Coke, Business world, Fidelity, Steria, ICICI Bank, Wipro, AT Kearney etc.

In Mumbai: PwC, Ma foi, Bunn & Co, JP Morgan Chase, Maersk Logistics,Ambrosia designs, Serdia Pharma, Bharti AXA insurance, Murjani Group, Reliance retail

And Pune: Walchand Talent First, Sandvik Asia Ltd., Forbes Marshall, Persistant Systems Ltd, Suzlon Energy Ltd, Bajaj, Piaggio

This process ensures a considerable increase in IE brand awareness in India.

Furthermore, the Career Center got a chance to interact with the IE India representative Karan Gupta and the IE alumni in Mumbai.

Otras empresas en Delhi: Coca Cola, Business World,  Fidelity, Steria, ICICI Bank, Wipro, AT Kearney etc

En Mumbai: PwC, Ma foi, Bunn & Co., JP Morgan Chase, Maersk Logistics, Ambrosia Designs, Serdia Pharma, Bharti AXA Insurance, Murjani Grupo, Reliance Retail

Pune: Walchand Talent First, Sandvik Asia Ltd., Forbes Marshall, Persistant Systems Ltd, Suzlon Energy Ltd, Bajaj, Piaggio

MBA Focus will be providing free access to your resumes to a select group of companies through April. If you are seeking a job, it is a good time to update your resume in MBA Focus or to upload one if you have not done so already. To be reminded of instructions contact the CMC. As I mentioned last week, we partnered with 2 additional vendors that reach out to companies for MBA job postings. There is no cost for OneWire and a reduced monthly cost for Doostang. OneWire primarily targets financial services firms to post jobs and find matching resumes in OneWire’s database. If you would like to have your resume searched by financial services firms, sign up at 350-001 Many of you are already using Doostang, a job listing resource only available to students in the top 20 MBA programs. If you would like to join for the first time, or upgrade to a premium account at the discounted rate, please sign up in the CMC. We will send your contact information to Doostang and you will receive the link to the partner page. And, this week the CEO of MBA Highway, 640-802 http://www.mbahighway.com, an MBA job and internship search website followed up with me about referring you to his company’s website.
We will continue to urge students to actively work your networks, even if you apply to jobs listed with any of the above vendors. Just this week, I heard from two students who did a masterful job of networking in their respective fields and ended up with seemingly impossible jobs to obtain given the stiff competition. Both of them said they did endless networking and the job offers came from contacts that were 3-4 degrees of separation away from their original outreach.
