The members of the Finance Club have put together the II edition of the Investment Banking Day at Instituto de Empresa. Rodrigo Loureiro Teixeira lead the organization of this event together with Cyril Mazeau, António Rus, Michele Fioretto, Judit Csikasz, Nino Gonjilashvili, Pierluigi Giverso and Andrew de la Mare. Guillaume Delacour from the Careers Management Center, was also a valuable resource in the organization.
This event is the 3rd one organized by the Finance Club in 2006, and will be followed by other interesting ones to be announced.

On Wednesday, March 22 Richard Vaughan, founder and owner of Vaughan Systems and Vaughan Radio, visited IE invited by The IE Entrepreneurs Club, and opened the first event organised by the Club under the title”Speakers´ Series”.

Net Impact Chapter: we intend to join a network of more than 13,000 leaders committed to improving the world through socially responsible business practices.
Corporate Social Responsibility: we apply and develop skills in the real world, while making an indirect, positive impact on society through corporations.
Social Action: we apply and develop skills in the real world, while making a direct, positive impact on society through hands-on contributions.
Case Studies: we learn more and help others learn more about social responsibility by researching and writing case studies.
Job Opportunities: we increase IE student access to and awareness of NGOs and companies in the area of social responsibility.
Exchange Ideas: we learn from one another by discussing various social responsibility topics.
Guest Speakers: we attract fresh insights that increase IE student awareness of current topics related to social responsibility.

The Marketing Innovations Club produced yet another eye-opener. This time the event was “Public Relations and Internet”, supported jointly by the departments of Information Technology and Marketing at IE.
On March 1st 2006, the students of IE had the opportunity to gain insight into the rapidly growing use of technology in Public Relations (PR). Presenting the topic were:
– Pablo Paniagua, founder of Paniagua Consultores (a Spanish PR consulting Firm);
– Juan Iván Martín, MD and Financial Director from CommPact (a leading Spanish Technology PR firm); and
Steve Maynard, Director of European Marketing of Visto UK

What is the IE Entrepreneurs Club?

The mission of the IE entrepreneurs Club is to continuously provide its members with access to knowledge and experiences from professors, alumni, students and other professionals. The added value from the club will contribute to successfully create and develop businesses by stimulating the exchange of ideas and networking among its members.
The main objective of the entrepreneurship club is to foster the creation and development of new businesses by IE students and alumni. In order to meet this objective the club organizes activities and events that include:
– Promotion and organization of the “Speakers’ Series” in which successful entrepreneurs share their business experiences and knowledge with IE students.
– Organization of Investor Panels to supply IE students who aspire to become entrepreneurs with advice on writing business plans that attract financing resources. Organization of lunches between local entrepreneurs and club members that are looking for the exchange of points of view and networking.
– Establishment and development of links between entrepreneurship clubs of top Business schools to promote networking and exchange of ideas.
– Bringing awareness and promotion of social entrepreneurship and corporate responsibility.
– Creation and development of the IE entrepreneurship club’s website, a source of information and meeting point on the web for IE Entrepreneurs and club members.
– Development of permanent relationships between members and IE alumni, the school, other Entrepreneurs and Investors through membership
– Cooperation with the Entrepreneurship Department to help IE in the organization of IE’s Venture Lab (the school’s incubator for business start-ups developed by IE students and alumni).
– Support IE with the organization of the IE Entrepreneurs Day, bringing entrepreneurs, investors and advisors together by featuring conferences, discussion panels and fostering networking.

The Marketing of Freixenet

On the 23rd of February, James Dress, International Group Product Manager for Freixenet flew in from Barcelona to give a presentation to the Marketing Club.
James focused on how marketing has been used by the company to make it so successful: it is Spain´s largest cava producer. Using what we are currently learning in our marketing course, James put into context how Freixenet uses the 4 Ps -product, price, place and promotion-.

Educational Session: What are the career opportunities in the banking and finance industry?
Today, the Finance Club and its members, Rodrigo Loureiro Teixeira, Cyril Mazeau, António Rus, Liam Hennigan, Deepanjan Mukherjee, Michele Fioretto, Judit Csikasz, Nino Gonjilashvili, Pierluigi Giverso, Andrew de la Mare and Nicolas Zapata (all from the IMBA2006 except António from Master on Financial Management) have held a “very successful educational event” according to the hundred of participants present. This second event organized in collaboration with the Careers Management Center was following the presentation of Mr.Roman Edelman, VP from Clariden Bank, the 23rd of January, on the careers in M&A and Private Banking.

First-Ever Marketing Day at IE

27th Oct 2005 played host to the first-ever Marketing Day at the Instituto de Empresa. Over 90 students from the MBA, Marketing Masters and IMBA heard guest speakers from three companies discuss the latest trends and real life marketing issues in their firms.

First Edition of the Investment Banking Day at IE

“Future challenges in investment banking” was the theme of the first edition of the Investment Banking Day on 8 June. Duarte Gaia dos Santos, Franka Schäffler, Harald Wilke, Ignacio Martínez Sánchez, Jerónimo Eduardo del Villar Zamacona, Laurence Van Lancker, Marc Clapasson, Manfred Hick, Sergio Iardella, Susan Luff and Rita Valerio, all IMBA 2005 members of the Instituto de Empresa Finance Club, organised this highly successful event with the support of our Careers Management Centre.
